Social Events

The 2006 conference will continue the INC tradition of social events with three events catering for all tastes and interests. On the Tuesday evening, a welcome reception will be hosted by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth. On the Wednesday evening the conference banquet will be held and the final event, a fondue evening, will take place on the Thursday evening.

Welcome Reception (Tuesday 11th July 2006)

On Tuesday evening delegates are invited by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, to attend a Civic Reception and formal welcome to the City of Plymouth.

Delegates will be offered drinks and nibbles followed by a formal but brief welcome by the Lord Mayor (19:00 - 20:30).

Medieval Conference Dinner (Wednesday 12th July 2006)

Our conference dinner will be a true banquet this year as we are holding a medieval themed event at Cotehele House, one of the National Trust properties in the South West. Construction of Cotehele House started in 1485 with the main house being completed in 1560. The house was the family home of the Edgcumbe family before they moved to Mount Edgcumbe in the 17th century (delegates from INC2004 may remember visiting the gardens during a boat trip in 2004).

We will depart from Plymouth at approximately 18:30 for the 30 minute coach ride to Cotehele. Prior to our medieval dinner at 20:00 delegates will have the opportunity to spend time enjoying the wonderful gardens.

The medieval dinner will be served at 20:00, providing an opportunity for delegates to sample Ye Olde English Food.

The coach will depart for the return journey to Plymouth at approximately 22:30.

Fondue Evening (Thursday 13th July 2006)

Our final event will take place at Plymouth Dry Ski Slope.

We will depart from the conference venue at approximately 18:00 for the short coach ride to the dry ski slope. On arrival, delegates will be offered the opportunity to participate in :

  • Snow Tubing (sliding down the ski-slope in a rubber donut!)
  • Toboggan Run

Fondue will be served around 20:00.

The coach will depart for the return journey at approximately 22:00.

NB it is advisable to bring warm/casual clothing as we will be outside on the ski slopes.
